Endor Community

I have created a new site for a non-profit organization called Endor. The web site address is www.endorcommunity.org. Their goal is to increase awareness of and help to supply housing for the physically Handicapped. Currently the government does not distinguish between physically and mentally handicapped persons. Endor's goal is to create a community for the physically handicapped.

Pysical handicaps is an umbrella term that contains many causes including genetic ailments that effect motor functions of limbs and irregularities from accidents and combat wounds. We have many wounded veterans returning from war that have missing or unusable limbs. While many have families to help care for them there are some that rely on the government for care. Veteran disability may not be enough to supplement their income to maintain their way of life and housing needs without moving to facilities for such. Often these facilities are substitised Section 8 housing in the not so pristine environments.

When assistance is needed for physically handicapped persons the facilities include mentally challenged persons. The physically handicapped persons are treated the same in regards to protection and limitations. A physically handicapped cannot go outside without an escort. they are locked into the facility. Plans have to made for the physically handicapped to go to the store for an icecream, shopping for a gift or just to enjoy the outside. They loose their freedom when all they need is assistance to prepare meals or get dressed.

Endor's goal it to create a community where the occupants have their own living quarters. Aides will make rounds to assist the patrons with morning activities and a calling system will be in place for instances where patrons need assistance for emergencies ot times when Aides are not making rounds.The physically handicapped do not need full-time assistance.
