Norma's newest addition to the family, Maggie, had Scottish Terrier Puppies. Two females and 3 males. All are doing well. The puppies are increasing in size and becoming more active.

To offer more services to clients we are looking to expand. We are currently looking for a facility large enough to house kennels, doggie day care and a retail shop for holistic dog food and safe toys and leashes. We were attempting to open in Lomar Park. However, there is a regulation from the Lomar Park Association forbidding pets. We asked for a variance in the regulation but after a vote by the Lomar Park Board Members the regulation still stands blocking any animal related businesses from occupying a building. We are continuing our search for a large enough facility to fit our needs.

Maggie's scottish terrier puppies are now almost 2 weeks old. Their eyes are open and they continue to become more active. Instead of just feeding and sleeping the puppies are starting to play with each other.

The Scottish Terrier Puppies are growing and playing harder. The largest male has discovered a new area outside the whelping box. We found him several times walking outside the box. Maggy is spending less time with the puppies and enjoys her time off.

We are still searching for a larger facility so we can offer more services to our clients.

The Scottish Terrier Puppies were four weeks old yesterday. Norma decided to give Maggie a break by taking the puppies out of the whelping box and putting them in a pen. The puppies are mostly on formula but Maggie visits them three times a day to inspect, clean them and a quick nursing. The puppies know when the formula is arriving and attack the bowl. The larger puppies know the faster they eat the more they will get before the supply runs out. The smaller ones seem content after a few minutes of slurping.

They are more active than ever and rush to the side of the pen when someone approaches. It is a toss-up whether they are anticipating more food or the newly acquired attention. Watch them devour their formula in Scottish Terrier Puppies Movie

Last week Norma trimmed up the puppies' faces. They no longer have the teddy bear faces but they are still adorable. They are eating more which caused them to poop more. Instead of referring to them as puppies, I call them "Poopies".

They continue to grow and like to scrap with one another. At times you could hear cries of pain as the larger puppies became overpowering and viciously bit into the smaller playmates. Norma separated the two smaller ones from the three larger to lessen the noise and the chances of permanently injury.

The puppies are fun to watch as they explore and scamper around the kitchen. If you walk across the kitchen in bare feet while the puppies are playing, they attack your toes and ankles with their sharp pointy teeth. You have to be careful if you are wearing socks because their teeth get caught in the material and when you react to the pain they inflict, the puppies end up getting tossed across the floor. While they are free in the kitchen, they are nicknamed "Floor Piranhas".

Monday ( 8/16 ) the puppies went to the Vet for a checkup and their first round of puppy shots. The shots did not seem to affect them as they continued to be as rambunctious as usual.
Norma says it is hard to pick out the best of the litter but she thinks the larger female is the pick. Check out the video of the puppies playing in the kitchen.

Yesterday, the puppies went for their second set of shots. They all received a clean bill of health.

Norma is keeping two puppies for show and another is going to Kathi and Susan, owners of Blueberry Kennels and the breeders of Maggie. One of the puppies is already sold and there is one left for sale.

The puppies have been a lot of work and have created a lot of noise. Still, I will hate to see them go because they have been such a joy to watch and play with.

The owners of Maggie, Kathi Brown and Susan Getgood, named the mother CH Blueberry's Jest Dancing.

To keep in line with the names Norma has decided to name her puppies Nor-Star's Dancing Pretty and Nor-Star's Leading the Dance. Other names being considered for the remaining puppies are;Street Dancing, Dancing the Rhumba and Still Dancing.

Blueberry's The Bruce

Cathy Brown named her selected puppy from Maggy's litter after Robert the Bruce, a Medieval Galeic Scottish King. The puppy's AKC (American Kennel Club) name is Blueberry's The Bruce. He was entered into three shows this past weekend in Fitchburg, January 15, 16 and 17. The Bruce won a " 4 Point Major" in Scottish Terrier Competion on Saturday the 15th and a " 3 Point Major" in Scottish Terrier Competition on Sunday the 16th. Monday was an All Terrier Competion which resulted in The Bruce taking 4th Place and earning another point. The Bruce is only 6 months old and already has 8 points of the necessary 15 points to become a Finished Champion.

If you are reading this you are viewing our new website. We changed our hosting company and could'nt transfer the template we were using due to copywrite regulations. This page was written using HTML ( Hyper Text Markup Language ) I learned while getting my IT degree. I still had to do some research in CSS ( Cascade style Sheets ) but managed to get the website working correctly. Let me know what you think of my design by e-mailing me at charlie@normascorner.com.

I haven't written in a while but things are changing here at Normas Corner.

Norma is doing the shop over so it is easier to clean. There are new cages along one wall and an air filter system has been installed.

Back in September, Norma sent Maggie out to be bred in Illinois. The breeding did not go as expected and we weren't sure if she conceived. She was acting like she was pregnant but she didn't have a large belly. After about 6 weeks Norma had an x-ray done to see if there were any puppies. The x-rays showed 1 with a possible other puppy behind it.

Maggie was due around Thanksgiving so Norma set up an appointment for Friday the 25th. Maggie had just 1 male puppy. Because it is black and born on Friday, Norma decided to name it North Star's Black Friday. Incidentally, he was also born on Black Friday after Thanksgiving.

The puppy is doing well and growing like a weed. He is already crawling around the whelping box. He is the only one feeding so he is getting plenty of milk which is why he is growing so fast. I will post a few pictures in the near future.

Black Friday is now 5 weeks old and has a voracious appetite. He is growing like a weed but seems sad because he doesn't have any siblings to play with. We try to give him as much attention as we can but it is not the same as having others the same size to play with.

Isn't this an adorable face. He is so cute. With the black fur and the face he looks like a little bear cub.

Everybody say " Awww ".

Norma is still feeding him because Maggie stopped her milk because there wasn't enough being taken by one puppy. You can watch him feed by clicking the image below.

Black Friday is still growing. He is moving around and just started to eat solid food. Norma is still nursing him every other meal. Here are some videos of Black Friday nursing, eating and investigating new surroundings with Mama.
